The Environmental Management Group identifies and quantifies air pollutants and waste generated contaminants and assesses their environmental impacts on human health, welfare, and the natural environment. The EM Group also identifies available control technologies and promotes the development of new methods and pollution prevention approaches to reduce air pollutants and wastes to acceptable limits. It develops institutional and administrative procedures to promote the utilization of control technology and pollution prevention measures for reducing air and waste pollutants, environmental quality and compliance auditing, sustainable global development, and the utilization of information management solutions/systems. It also creates opportunities for information exchange of research, measurements, methods, experiences/solutions, regulatory affairs (laws, regulations, criteria, and guidance), public outreach, ethics training, and enhanced environmental stewardship.
The mission of the Resource Conservation and Waste Management Group is to promote increased research, innovation, environmental soundness and cost-effectiveness of various waste management and pollution prevention technologies and to provide a forum for discussions on all aspects of the following broad areas.
