FINAL PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE!

The vapor intrusion (VI) pathway is an emerging concern that may impact thousands of hazardous, brownfield, and commercial/industrial waste sites across the nation, as well as residential and other buildings near these sites. Defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as the “migration of volatile chemicals from the subsurface into overlying buildings,” VI may represent a health risk to occupants of affected structures – even for sites in which remedial measures have already been implemented. Site-specific discoveries, revised regulatory guidance, and updated toxicity information of certain chlorinated solvents (such as trichloroethylene, or TCE) have converged into a “perfect storm” of events, catapulting VI into the national consciousness and triggering raucous debate amongst various stakeholders.

This specialty conference builds upon the highly successful events held in Philadelphia in January 2006 and Los Angeles in September 2006 by bringing together nationally-recognized scientists, engineers, regulators and attorneys with first-hand experience in the evaluation and mitigation of VI. Based on real-life experiences and knowledge gained by the experts, attendees will have a new-found appreciation of the complex technical, legal and public relations issues that often confront even the most well-intentioned VI programs. This conference will be especially beneficial to consulting engineers, representatives of responsible parties, environmental attorneys, and corporate and plant environmental managers facing a potential VI investigation.
