AIR-129: Your GHG Program: Practical Considerations for Managing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in an Evolving Landscape
INSTRUCTOR: Terri Shires, URS Corporation
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Greenhouse gas emissions are receiving significant attention in the United States. Regional and state organizations are taking action now through voluntary and mandatory programs, while a myriad of federal activities are being explored. The financial community and shareholders are questioning companies about potential exposures, their impact on share value and what specific actions are being taken to mitigate or adapt to these risks. Companies recognize that they will be impacted, but are looking for guidance and direction in this uncertain and rapidly evolving GHG landscape. During this session we will provide an overview of current programs for voluntary and mandatory inventory reporting, practice with inventory calculations and metrics for comparing with peers.
Overview
Your company has made the decision to report Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. What does this mean and how do you achieve this commitment? This workshop is targeted toward the professional responsible for compiling the GHG inventory. Through discussion, case studies, and examples, this workshop will focus on key elements for constructing a verifiable GHG Inventory. Calculation methodologies will cover emission sources common to most GHG inventories: stationary combustion, vehicles, electricity, and small emission sources. The workshop will also address developing an Inventory Management Plan, assessing inventory accuracy, and quantifying emission reductions.
