Need to know more about the New Source Review Regulations?
Join A&WMA in Orlando, FL for the popular "Clearing the Air on NSR" workshop, featuring industry leaders Ken Weiss, Principal and Global Air Practice Leader, ERM; Gary McCutchen, Principal, RTP Environmental Assoc., Inc.; Jay Hofmann, President and CEO, Trinity Consultants; and John Paul, Administrator, Regional Air Pollution Control Agency and New Source Review Committee Chairman, National Association of Clean Air Agencies.
This workshop, taught by instructors whose knowledge and experience in NSR is unmatched, is the premier resource for usable information on this topic and has been newly updated to include an in-depth discussion of the new PM2.5 NSR regulatory requirements.
On May 8, 2008 U.S. EPA issued the much awaited New Source Review (NSR) Rule for Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5). Learn about the new rules and avoid project delays.
Some of the more important Key Provisions of the New Regulations to be addressed during the workshop include:
- The need to address both “direct” PM2.5 emissions, and “PM2.5 precursor” pollutants: sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and ammonia. Sources will not only have to look at PM2.5, but also NOx and SO2 emissions to determine whether they trigger major source permitting requirements and the timing for the roll-out of these new requirements.
- Determining the NSR “major source threshold” and "significant emissions rate" in attainment and nonattainment areas for PM2.5
- Understanding Condensable Emissions and their related requirements
- New “offset ratios” for direct PM2.5 and precursors NOx and SO2 for NNSR.
- Using “interpollutant trading” of direct PM2.5 and precursors for NNSR.
The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Environmental Defense et al vs. Duke Energy Corp. has added additional information to consider along with recent attempts by numerous parties to use NSR to address CO2 emissions.
The Clearing the Air on NSR workshop will focus on anticipated changes to the NSR program; how and when new requirements will apply throughout the United States; the fundamental, primarily unchanged, requirements of the NSR program; conflicting court opinions and their impact on operations; and the status of EPA's NSR enforcement initiative. Instructors will also discuss topics related to facility renovation and new construction. The newly updated Workshop provides a comprehensive review of the current program.
