Power Plant Air Pollution Control Symposium to Take Place in Baltimore, MD, Aug. 28-31, 2006Pittsburgh, PA (August 24, 2006) - A four-day symposium in Baltimore, MD, will take a comprehensive look at air pollutant controls for power plants, addressing SO2, NOx, particulate, mercury, and air toxic emissions. The sixth Mega Symposium, which takes place Aug. 28-31, 2006, at the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront, is cosponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA). The symposium will feature 11 specialized technical sessions and two panel discussions. The plenary panel will address "United States & Global Utility Mercury Emissions & Their Controls" from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday, Aug. 28. The panel will be moderated by C.V. Mathai, of the Arizona Public Service Company, and will feature the following panelists:
A second panel will address "Emission Challenges and Costs for New Plants" from 8 to 9:40 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30. More than 800 attendees are expected at the conference.
