ACE 2023 Student Events

Student Platform Presentations and Poster Competition
Student platform paper presentations will be held throughout the technical program. See your fellow students present their research as platform presentations throughout the week.

The Student Poster Presentations and Competition will be conducted on Tuesday, June 6. Students will present their posters to the judges during this year’s Student Poster Competition. The competition recognizes student posters to be the best among those considered in the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral categories. Awards for exceptional posters will be provided at the Student Awards Ceremony and Reception on Wednesday, June 7. 
Environmental Challenge International (ECi) Competition 
Student teams participate in a competition where they devise an environmental solution to a real-world problem and gain experience with proposing effective solutions taking into consideration site conditions, multiple parties' needs, and external events.

ECi Poster Judging will be on Tuesday, June 6 and final presentations will be on Wednesday, June 7, followed by the Student Awards Ceremony and Reception.
Student Welcome Reception

Students participating in the Student Paper, Student Poster Competition, and the Environmental Challenge International (ECi) are invited to meet and network with fellow students from around the world. Poster setup guidelines and ECi rules will be reviewed and attendees can enjoy light refreshments.

Presented by Liz Foeller, Senior Area Environmental Protection Manager, Waste Management Inc. of Florida

Liz Foeller HeadshotLiz Foeller is the Senior Area Environmental Manager for the WM Florida operations. In this position, she oversees the permitting and compliance activities for all media including air, water, waste, and tanks for the collection, post-collection, and recycling facilities. Specifically, Liz provides leadership and direction for site personnel to ensure facility operations meet or exceed our regulatory requirements. Liz has been part of the WM Florida operations for six years and has been practicing environmental engineering in Florida for over 25 years. With an MS and BS in Engineering, Liz is a professional licensed engineer in Florida.

All students and professionals participating with the Student Program are invited to the Student Awards Ceremony and Reception, which will honor exceptional students who have received scholarships, poster awards, platform paper awards, thesis and dissertation awards, and ECi awards.

Join A&WMA students and young professionals for a fun evening of networking at the Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar. This popular event brings together many students, YPs, and seasoned professionals in a fun, casual environment. Cuba Libre, which translates to "a free Cuba," celebrates the island's culture through its food, beverage, and entertainment.
