EM—May 2019: This month's issue focuses on key air quality monitoring issues and developments important to air quality managers.

Following this introduction, four articles in this issue of EM focus on air quality monitoring issues and developments important to air quality managers. Annmarie Carlton and Sherri Hunt report on field studies that have linked biogenic organic aerosols to anthropogenic sources. Judith Chow and colleagues describe advances in laboratory analysis of speciated particulate matter data to identify impacts of fires. Casey Lenhart's article discusses quality assurance in air quality monitoring. Philip Hopke compares methods for measuring ultrafine particles and explains applications that need this
data. This introductory article provides context and introduces the authors.
