A&WMA runs on the power of our dedicated members and volunteers helping us to plan programs and events, provide editorial content, run our sections and chapters, select award and scholarship recipients, and aid students and young professionals in developing their careers in the environmental industry. 

We have many opportunities for you to get involved, meet new people, build your leadership skills, and serve the industry.

Technical Content 

Join a TCC! Technical Coordinating Committees plan sessions at ACE, specialty conferences and webinars. We are particularly looking for people who have experience with Indigenous Environmental Affairs, Public Participation, Atmospheric Chemistry, and all industrial groups. Check out the committees and contact Flint Webb to get involved. 

Develop a session or become a presenter at ACE 2021. The Call for Abstracts is available and the deadline is November 30. 

Sections & Chapters 

Communications Chair needed for the Sections & Chapters Council. Develop The Conduit newsletter and help share tips and ideas to support local units. Contact Jennifer Tullier, Sections & Chapters Council Vice Chair.

Get involved in your local section or chapter! They always need new volunteers to plan technical and social events, and communicate with members. Find your local unit and connect directly via their website. 


Young Professionals
YPAC is seeking a Vice Chair for 2021! 
Get involved and help plan programs to pave the way for other YPs in the environmental industry, build leadership skills, expand your knowledge, and make contacts with key environmental experts. Candidates must be be 35 or younger and have previously served on YPAC for one year. Here's the details

Are you a writer? YPAC is looking for volunteers to share career tips and content for young professionals in the YP Perspective column in EM magazine. Contact Kerry Wsichsel if you're interested. 

Education and Outreach 

Support the webinar committee by reviewing proposals, soliciting speakers and helping to plan webinars. Contact or submit a proposal on a hot topic in the industry. 

The K-12 Committee is looking for K-12 teachers who can help review our existing lesson plans and provide insights on how to enhance them to satisfy the requirements of the 21st century science classroom. Contact
