Student Events at the Annual Conference
Student opportunities include attending the A&WMA Annual Conference & Exhibition (ACE), where you can get the latest technical information, participate in student competitions, present and publish papers, and attend student networking programs.
Students also can participate in the Environmental Challenge International (ECi) Competition, where teams prepare and present an optimal solution to a complex "true-to-life" environmental problem and present solutions at ACE each year.
ACE 2025 is taking place June 9-12, 2025 in Raleigh, NC. Stay tune for details on the student events, coming this fall!
Scholarships and Awards
Thanks to the fundraising and donations of our members, A&WMA is proud to offer student awards and thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. Deadlines for calendar year scholarships and awards are in January and details are posted in October.

Exceptional Student Chapter Award
Complete the Award Form and Student Chapter Report and be considered for this annual award!
The A&WMA Student Chapter Award recognizes outstanding achievement by a student chapter. The Student Chapter Annual Report shall consist of a summary report prepared according to the format form provided below. The annual report will provide the data required for computation of the criteria score and supporting documentation for each activity to be counted toward the award score.
Award Forms are due March 31 of each year and should be submitted with the supporting Section or Chapter's Annual Report, or directly to Robin Lebovitz at rlebovitz@awma.org in PDF format with a copy to the local section, and proofs of the listed activities (minutes, announcements, reports, pictures, etc.)
The winning chapter will be announced at the Annual Conference & Exhibition Student Awards Ceremony and will be asked to share their achievements in a five-minute presentation. The award consists of a plaque, plus formal recognition at the Annual Meeting and in Association publications.
