EM - May 2025: This issue of EM focuses on the various sources and trends in methane, methane emissions, and how methane can be mitigated through policies and alternatives solutions such as hydrogen.
by Tree RaineIn the issue's first article, Bryan Comer discusses the increasing methane emissions from liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled ships and the need for regulatory adaptations to effectively address these emissions.
Next, Elissama De Oliveira Menezes, Andrew Dumbrille, Melissa Lem, and Shweta Narayan explore the challenges and health implications of methane-based marine fuels.
In the third article, Anan Almomani and Christopher Casteix consider the challenges of surface emissions monitoring at landfills and emphasize the need for advanced technology like geographic information system (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) to improve monitoring efficiency and accuracy.
In our final article this month, Angelica Pajkovic and Mark Ruffin explore hydrogen, an alternative to methane and other fuels, and the challenges and solutions associated with sealing hydrogen in industrial applications.
