YP/Introductory Technical Session: How Does It Work? – Climate Risk and Adaptation

As the risk of climate change increases, there is growing pressure from stakeholders and regulators for industry and municipalities to assess their exposure to climate hazards and implement adaptation measures to minimize their risk. However, climate risk assessment and adaptation planning are difficult and often require specialized expertise, and collaborative effort. This panel session will introduce practical methods for climate risk assessment and provide real-world examples of adaptation planning in the public and private sectors. It will try to answer the question on how we can balance the interests of regulators, industry and the public, while passing effective climate management policies.The panelists will include a climate risk specialist and representatives from industry and government.
